Pet Relocation
Taking your Pets Abroad
With the new Pets Passport Scheme underway and quarantine no longer a deterrent, taking your pet abroad is now a real possibility. So how do you go about it, and what are the pitfalls to avoid? Here's some advice on talking your pet to Spain for the first time.
Pet Passports: To get a passport your pet must have a rabies vaccination and blood tests carried out by your own vet, who will also provide an identity chip.
You will be given an International Vaccination Health Certificate showing they be imported into Spain without quarantine. This will show they are inoculated and free from the diseases listed by Spanish Authorities. The health certificate must be issued no more than 15 days prior to bringing your pet into the country.
The International Health Certificate must state:
- That your pet shows no signs of disease and has been examined before leaving the country.
- The Identification and origin of your pet.
- That your pet has been vaccinated against rabies.
Animals must be accompanied by either owners or a representative and must have written certification that the cat or dog has been under the owner's supervision for at least 3 months before entering Spain.
Azahar Dream Homes S.L. can introduce you to professionals who specialise in the transportation of pets for relocation.
